Organic is better!
EU findings
After much debating and difference of opinion, it seems there may be a definitive answer to the question surrounding the benefits of organic food. A recently completed £12 million study funded by the European Union has found that organic produce is better for you than non-organically grown food.
In contrast to recent data released by the government, this comprehensive analysis has found that organic food is generally more nutritious, can contain up to 40% more antioxidants and higher levels of Vitamin C and trace elements such as iron, zinc and copper.
The survey took place on adjacent sites on a 725-acre farm in Newcastle, as well as other locations across Europe. The results of the four-year project will not be officially published for some time, but the findings will undoubtedly cause a major shift in the government’s advice which currently sees organic simply as a lifestyle choice.
Sustainability
For those of you who are already buying organic, it confirms what many of us have believed for some time. Not only do organic foods have more flavour (in my opinion!) but they are also part of a necessary development towards sustainability and a more environmentally-friendly future. And now they are even better for your body!
And organic skincare?
Obviously we can’t wait for an investigation to be done into the beneficial effects of organic skincare, but with more antioxidants in the ingredients, we think your skin will reap the benefits too.
