Why Choose Organic Skin Care?

Organic skin care and beauty products are hugely popular at the moment, and to understand why, it's useful to know a bit more about what organic actually means. Organic farming is a method of farming that severely restricts the use of pesticides and insecticides, instead using more traditional methods and crop rotation to keep pests away and natural fertilizers to encourage the crops to reach their best.

By using ingredients grown organically, you can be sure that they have been grown with minimal chemicals so they themselves won't contain anything they shouldn't! This is particularly important when you know that a significant proportion of the products we put on our skin enter into our body.

Even better, when a company makes organic skin care products it usually means that they do not include any of the additional ingredients we'd rather avoid such as parabens and SLS. But beware the unethical brands who just use the "organic" name which doesn't mean it really is organic. Tobe sure, look for a certification logo such as the Soil Association.

In addition to the benefits to your body, organic is better for the environment. The farming methods are more eco-friendly and sustainable than other farming methods meaning a lower carbon footprint as well as using fewer petrochemicals.

So all in all, you can see why we're such big fans!

Our very own favourite, suki exfoliate foaming cleanser is featured in the Beauty Fix in The Times today.
"..the next thing best thing for organic aficionados who don't have the time or the inclination to whip up beauty products at home..after just a week you'll notice that it improves skin tone. Great for removing make-up or if you've been wearing a sticky SPF cream."

So we're not the only ones who love it!

Africology Spa

We've just discovered that Africology is now available to Virgin's luxury spa users. The down-side? You'll have to go the Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa to experience it!

A little closer to home, Africology treatments are available at the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden. But even better, why not pamper yourself in the comfort of your own home? Discover the exclusive Africology Spa range at How on Earth. Light a candle, run a bath and indulge... You'll feel the wrinkles and your worries floating away!

One of our favourites is the Africology Body Butter - so rich, this isn't one to put on if you're hurrying off to work as you'll need a few moments to let your skin absorb it (but we think it's all the better for that as we should all be taking more time to relax and pamper ourselves - it's good for the mind and body). Besides which, the wait's all worth it - it works like magic against dry skin and you won't need to apply it every day!

And for your face, we can't speak highly enough about the Africology Moisturiser. Not only does it have an SPF of 15 (which is a must for looking after your skin in the coming summer months), but you can virtually feel your skin absorbing the goodness as soon as you put it on.

So go on, treat yourself...
